The people's Democratic Republic of Laos is located in the centre of Indochina, Sharing Borders with China to the North, Mynmar to the Northwest, Thailand to the west, Cambodia to the South and Vietnam to the east .With and area of 236,800 Square Kilometers. Climate:
Laos enjoys a tropical climate with two distinct seasons- the rainy season from the beginning of May to the end of September and the dry season from October through to April. The yearly Average temperature is about 28 oc, rising to a maximum of 38 Oc in April and May . in Vientiane minimum temperatures 19 Oc are to be Expected in January . In mountain-Ous areas , however, temperatures drop to 14-15Oc During the winter months , and in cold nights easily reach the Freezing Point.
The Averages precipitation is highest in Southern Laos , Where the animate mountains receive over 3000mm annually. In Vientiane rainfall is about 1500-2000 mm , and in the Nothern provinces only 1000-1500 mm.

Lao Men are expected to became a monk for at a short time in their livers . traditionally they spent three months during the rainy season in a Vat , A Buddhist temple . But now most men curtail their stay to one or two weeks .
People
Lao has a total population of 5.8 Million, 13% of whom live in Vientiane Province . People share a Rich Ethnic diversity, comprising such groups as Hmong, Kmu, Yao, A'Kha, Ikoh, Lu, Thai Dam, thai Phou , Etc…… Most of them have kept their own customs, Dialects and Traditional dress . In total 47 Different groups are accounted for in laos . These can be classified into three broad groups:
- The lao Lum ( lowlanders) who make up 56% of the Population and Predominantly live along the Mekong river .
- The lao Theung ( Hight Landers) who comprise 3 34% of the Population. Slopes and Hills with and elevation of less than 1,000 meters.
- The Lao Soung ( uplanders) who constitute 9% of the Population and live in the mountainous areas .
The Population density of laos amount 19 people per square Kilometer, a small number compared to the country's neighbors: 120 People per square Kilometer in Thailand and 200 People per square Kilometer in China.
